Ceramic Ware II

Nesting Bowls.

Ceramic Ware I

My first batch of ceramics after a 13 year hiatus.  I will be back in the studio in January, and will be focusing my work on cooking and serving ware in a much larger scale.

Raku Flower Pot.
These small stacking stoneware cups can be used for something like oil and vinegar for the table, or to serve pistachio nuts, one cup for nuts, the other to collect the shells.  It's pretty open ended.

Small condiment bowl.

Small plate.

Dauber Bowls.  See an earlier post for a look at the work in progress.

Wooden Toy Prototype

Inspired by Hopi Kachinas and Waldorf dolls, this manipulative toy is designed and crafted by Joe Bryan. This toy and more like them will be featured in our upcoming Plane/Air Cooperative Showcase.

Knitted Rope Multi-Purpose Baskets

This is the Triangular Multi-Purpose Folding Basket.  It is also called "Banana Hammock".  It's folding shape allows you to pile a bunch of stuff in the center of the basket, such as wood, freshly picked flowers or produce from the garden, then simply gather and carry your goods by the leather wrapped handles.  It can also function as a hammock if hung open by the two handles.

This version is called the Bower Nest Basket, inspired by Bower Bird Nests.  Bower birds build beautiful elaborate nests that function as a stage to display their collected treasures.  It's wide opening in the front makes it easy to add and extract items from the pouch.  I had mushroom hunting in mind while I was designing the shape. It can also be hung to cradle your fruit and vegetables, toys, a rock collection, or a plant, any kind of treasure.

Both of these products will be featured at our upcoming Plane/Air Cooperative showcase.

Abstract Embroidery Project, No. 1

This is an experiment in abstract embroidery, which I became interested in through studying the work of Hungarian-American textile artist, Mariska Karasz.  This is my first time embroidering anything and I am not quite sure about the result, it might be just a starting place.....

Wedding Quilt

This design was inspired by a Gee's Bend quilt. It is made from a combination of cotton and linen scraps of old clothing and previous sewing projects I've collected over the last year.
