Furniture

This walnut piece of furniture was completed in 2010.  It can function as both a table and bench seat.  I constructed the cushion from wool I knitted and felted and filled with bamboo fibers.  Design ©KVL

This is the first piece of furniture I have made, completed in 2010.  It is made from a single piece of poplar. Design ©KVL

I constructed this bench with bookshelf out of 1/2" birch veneered plywood, completed in 2011.  This is my first attempt at finger joints and mieter joints fitted together with custom hand carved wooden dowels. Design ©KVL

This is my adaptation of The Swing Low cradle by Danish Designer Søren Ulrik Petersen.  Completed 2011.  I took an old army blanket, felted it, sandwiched some interfacing in between and quilted them together.  I used hemp twine to construct the shape and hang the cradle.

This hanging cradle was constructed out of left over birch veneered plywood.  The mattress cushion is made of heavy canvas, which is naturally moisture resistant, and covered by hand knitted and felted wool, which is also naturally moisture resistant and anti bacterial.  It is hung by hand knotted sisal twine.  Completed 2011.
